Our Mission

Our professionals have many years of experience in representing closely held businesses, in all facets of providing financial assistance in areas of accounting services, tax compliance and planning, and management consulting. This experience ensures that our clients will receive cost-efficient and innovative solutions to the challenges of operating a successful business. In representing closely held companies, our goal is to coordinate the activities of the business with the goals and personal finances of the owners.

Mr. D’Amore is one of the founding members of The D’Amore Tatman Group, LLC, a certified public accounting and business consulting firm. Prior to this current position, he was the partner-in-charge of the tax department of a regional Cleveland-based accounting firm for a period of fourteen years. In that capacity he participated in tax-related engagements of a corporate, partnership and individual nature.

A 1975 graduate of John Carroll University, Mr. D’Amore has represented clientele in the examination of tax-related matters before the various federal, state, and local government agencies. Mr. D’Amore also has the designation of Certified Valuation Analyst as a result of his experience and continuing education with tax and related business valuation activities.

During his many years of experience in public accounting, Mr. D’Amore has worked extensively with a wide variety of clients, including real estate development corporations, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers, contractors and sub-contractors, companies in the transportation industry and professional service firms. For these clients, he has performed tax engagements involving such issues as integrated corporate and shareholder tax planning, corporate reorganization tax planning, and strategic corporate and shareholder debt restructuring. His experiences in these areas include multi-state applications.

Mr. D’Amore’s background also includes numerous financial statement compilations, reviews, and certified audit engagements with specific experience related to the construction, transportation and distribution industries. In addition, he is a Certified Valuation Analyst and has supervised the preparation and completion of several business valuations.

Mr. D’Amore has also been actively involved in various consulting projects. He has been able to use his tax expertise in providing solutions to tax related problems in the consulting area.

Mr. D’Amore is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Cleveland Chapter of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of Business Valuation Analysts. He is a former member of the Board of Directors and former Chairman of the Federal Legislation Committee of the Council of Smaller Enterprises of the Greater Cleveland Growth Association.

Ms. Tatman is a founding partner in The D’Amore Tatman Group, LLC. Prior to forming The D’Amore Tatman Group she was a partner in the tax and employee benefits department of a Cleveland based regional accounting firm. She is directly involved in the tax research, planning, and compliance services for individuals, privately-held businesses, and business owners. She has also represented clients before the various federal, state, and local taxing agencies. Her clientele spans a wide range of industries, including:

  • Physicians and healthcare practices
  • Attorneys and law firms
  • Investment advisors and financial consulting firms
  • Service providers
  • Manufacturers
  • Construction
  • Not for Profits and Government

As a Certified Pension Consultant, Ms Tatman has extensive experience in planning, designing and communicating qualified plans for a variety of clients. These programs include qualified pension and profit sharing plans, tax sheltered annuity programs, IRC 457 plans, cafeteria plans, and welfare plans. Her experience includes 401(k) plan design and communication; client representation before the Department of Labor, and cafeteria plan design.

Ms. Tatman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration, majoring in accounting, from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond.

She was an elected delegate to the 1995 White House Conference on Small Business. In 1996 she testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Small Business on tax issues related to deferred compensation and pension planning. She participated as a delegate to the 1999 Ohio Governor’s Conference on Small Business. Ms. Tatman has also spoken on the subjects of medical practice valuation and tax issues affecting the sale, purchase, and consolidation of medical practices.

Ms. Tatman is a past president of the Cleveland Chapter of the National Association of Women in Business Owners (NAWBO). She is also a member of the following organizations:

Mr. Bell is Partner-in-Charge of the Firm's Accounting and Auditing Department. He is a graduate of Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a major in Accounting.

Mr. Bell has worked on a wide variety of engagements with a clientele that includes:

  • Physicians
  • Manufacturers
  • Mortgage companies
  • Non-profit organizations
  • Staffing

His accounting and auditing responsibilities include:

  • Planning, supervision and review of financial statement audits, reviews, and compilations

  • Preparation and review of personal financial statements
  • Coordination and participation in special internal auditing engagements
  • Review and recommendation of internal control procedures
  • Preparation of business valuations
  • Coordination of the Firm's Peer Review

Mr. Bell is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and has been exposed to numerous accounting issues. He has also lectured to various local groups on current accounting topics.

Mr. Bell is an active member of the following organizations:

Mr. Proctor is a Partner of Tax and Financial Services. He has a Masters of Taxation from the University of Akron, and is a graduate of the Ohio State University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting.

Mr. Proctor is directly involved in the tax research, planning and compliance services provided for the Firms privately-held business clients. In addition, he provides succession, estate, segmented planning and consulting for the various business owners and executives.

Mr. Proctor has worked on a wide variety of engagements providing personal tax, estate, and financial planning services to high net worth individuals. His responsibilities included assurance of compliance with various tax-related matters for individual, partnership, trust and corporate engagements. Duties also included the preparation and analysis of statement of financial position reports, cash flow, long-term retirement, estate plans and tax projections.

Mr. Proctor’s background also included working with closely held and privately owned businesses and business owners. His duties included assistance with various audit, accounting and tax related matters for clients in the manufacturing, construction, service, restaurant, not-for-profit and HUD areas. His responsibilities included audit, review and compilation services, tax compliance and planning, and the preparation of budgeted and financial projections.

Mr. Proctor is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and has been exposed to numerous tax, financial and accounting issues.

Mr. Slocum is a Partner in the Tax and Financial Services department. He is a graduate of Cleveland State University with a B.B.A. degree in Accountancy. He has over 25 years experience in providing individual, corporate and employee benefit compliance and consultation.

Mr. Slocum is directly involved in the tax research, planning and compliance services provided for the Firms privately-held business clients. In addition, he has extensive experience in providing qualified plan design consultation and communication for pension/profit sharing plans, 401(k) plans and cafeteria plans.

Mr. Slocum has worked on a wide variety of engagements providing personal tax, estate, and financial planning services to high net worth individuals. His responsibilities included assurance of compliance with various tax-related matters for individual, partnership, trust and corporate engagements. Duties also included employee benefit plan reporting and consultation, executive compensation planning, distribution analysis and related tax projections.

Mr. Slocum’s background also included working with closely held and privately owned businesses and business owners, large multi-employer welfare benefit plans and union pension plans. His duties included assistance with various audit, accounting and tax related matters for clients in the manufacturing, construction, professional service, restaurant, union and not-for-profit areas. His responsibilities included audit, review and compilation services, tax compliance and planning, the preparation of budgeted and financial projections and employee benefit plan reporting.

Mr. Slocum is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and has been exposed to numerous tax, financial and accounting issues including client representation before the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.
